Details: | On July 18, 2019, the Tillamook Police department notified the Oceanside Water District that an individual who’s vehicle was found near their main reservoirs indicated that an attempt was made to contaminate the Districts water system. Although there is no evidence to suggest this individual succeeded or even gained access to the reservoirs, the City is issuing a Do Not Drink notice and is working with local law enforcement and the Tillamook County emergency manager. As a precaution, the City has discontinued using those reservoirs until they can be drained, re-filled, and the entire distribution system flushed. They are urging customers not to drink the water until further notified. The City anticipates that the Do Not Drink notice will be lifted by July 23, 2019. Lifted 07/23/2019: The final testing results were received on the afternoon of July 23, 2019 and the do not drink notice was rescinded that evening. A "Drinking Water Problem Corrected" notice based on an OHA-DWS template provided to the District on the morning of 7/23/19 was distributed to customers on 7/23/19. Although the notice indicated that customers may now consume the water, customers were asked to continue conserving water as the reservoirs were still being filled, which was expected to be completed by the end of the week. The need to conserve water resulted from having to drain and flush the two main reservoirs and the distribution system. Not all customers were affected by the notices due to the ability to serve some areas from other tanks. |
