Details: | Mark Haglund of Jacobs Engineering reported that the pump went out in a pump station (Dodge Ave #2, which only has one pump) leaving 8-10 houses with zero pressure. They are repairing the electrical problem to get the pump running again, but will not be able to get a coliform sample to the lab now until Monday Dec. 9th. The Brookings Public Works director, Tony Baron, subsequently contacted me to say that boil notices were being hand delivered to the affected homes, and had already been posted on their website. (In Brookings, Jacobs Engineering run the water treatment on contract, but the City staff is responsible for the distribution system.) The affected houses will remain on a boil advisory until the problem is fixed and the coliform sample(s) have come back absent. Lifted 12/11/2019: Samples collected on Monday 12/9/19 were absent for coliform, and the chlorine residual level was normal, so they lifted the boil advisory |
