Details: | The City of Hood River issued a boil water advisory on Sunday, January 19th due to a main break that occurred at about 6pm. The main break occurred in the downtown area affecting downtown and outlying areas. Customers were notified via the City website, radio, flash alert and social media. The Hood River County Health Department has notified restaurants and licensed facilities. The main break was isolated and water service restored.
The City is collecting additional coliform samples today. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until sample results indicate an absence of coliform bacteria. Lifted 01/22/2020: The boil notice was rescinded as of 1:30 pm on 1/22/20. Since the original line break the evening of 1/19/20, the City has isolated the area with the waterline break, flushed the distribution system in the affected area, verified chlorine residuals were within normal range of around 0.2 - 0.31 mg/l, and provided sample results absent of coliform bacteria from sampling completed on 1/20/20 and 1/21/20. The City is anticipated to complete repairs to the broken line by the end of next week. Update by Evan Hofeld, Regional Engineer with OHA-DWS. |
