| Details: | Informed Scott that a district customer notified DWS today about a water outage at her residence. He became aware of the issue Tuesday morning. A 6-inch mainline broke resulting in the loss of pressure to 39 homes on Butler Hill, the high point of the water system. Three storage tanks were also drained. They were able to install a temporary bypass to limit number of customers out of water. The break was located today and is being repaired. Service should be restored by tomorrow morning. Scott and I discussed follow up coliform sampling in the affected area once pressure is restored and customer notification. Update 09/04/2020: Spoke with Scott this morning. The waterline was repaired last night. Flushing was performed to purge air from waterlines restoring system pressure and service. A revised automated message was sent to the affected customers. He is collecting a coliform bacteria sample today. The result will be available next week due to the holiday weekend. If the sample is coliform absent the advisory will be lifted. Scott will notify me when this occurs. Lifted 09/08/2020: On September 16th, Scott got back to me and the sample collected on 9/4 was coliform absent. Customers were notified using automated dialing system that the water advisory was lifted. - M. Byrd |
