Details: | This is a hand pump. The handle on the hand pump was removed for the rest of the season. Lifted 04/11/2018: The system evaluated the hand pump at Mckenzie Bridge known as #2. The hand pump was cleaned and 4 samples were collected from the hand pump to assist in determining if the hand pump was the issue or if the well itself may be contaminated. All four samples showed no signs of coliform or E.coli. The system will sample monthly if any other samples come back positive for e.coli the hand pump will be closed for use. Due to the evacuation of this area, last summer from a forest fire immediate evaluation of the hand pump with confirmation samples was not taken at the time. Update 12/04/2017: Sandy with USFS is filling in for Dave Sanders while he is on detail at another forest. Sandy said they talked to American Land and Leisure managers Lauren and Sheryl Fox and they believe a temporary source of contamination was the cause of the confirmed E.coli at the hand pump at the end of the season. They would to do a pre-season start up process in March on the HP and depending upon the sample results use the Hand Pump for the 2018 season if it is free of E.coli. The campground was closed early last year due to the evacuation of the area. |
