| Details: | The water system for Jackson Co. Parks Cantral Buckley has been shut down as as a result of a contamination event. On July 18 and 19, 2018, a wastewater hauler inadvertently dumped approximately 1,000 gallons of kitchen and shower greywater from a neighboring firecamp into the systems 10,000 gallon drinking water storage tank. The water system for the park was shut down immediately on the morning of July 23, 2018, after a park ranger for the system found out about the incident. The water system operator has collected three samples from the system (i.e., day use, storage tank and campground locations). The results for the coliform will be available on July 24, 2018.
In order to reopen the water system, the operator indicated that the system will be flushed multiple times with fresh well water and shock chlorinated. After the storage tank is refilled and pressurized, water samples will be collect from the system for coliform. If the samples are absent for coliform, the water system will return to providing water to the park. Lifted 08/24/2018: Final approval was given for residual distribution maintenance. Samples taken have been pathogen free. |
