Details: | 2:31 PM Update - All services are now on a system-wide boil water notice due to insufficient water available in the storage tanks than originally anticipated.
A major 10” diameter transmission main located south of Booth Hill Rd and HWY 35 in the upper region of the Crystal Springs Water District (PWS ID# 00386) (a community system serving 5,600 people in Hood River County) broke this morning (5/12/21) at about 2:30 AM. The broken water main resulted in a loss of pressure to about 25 square miles of the service area south of Booth Hill Rd and HWY 35 affecting about 1,200 residential customers, 3 restaurants, and a grocery store in the Mt Hood Community area of the Crystal Springs Water District.
Affected customers have been notified to boil their water until further notice via, reverse 911, Facebook, mass e-mail, placards, and radio with the assistance of the local fire department and Hood River county staff who have notified affected restaurants and store.
The broken main was isolated about 7:00 AM this morning and repairs are expected to be completed by about 11:30 AM. Flushing and sampling will also take place today.
Lifted 05/13/2021: 3:59 PM - per phone call with Fred Schatz, coliform results came back absent and the District is preparing to lift the boil advisory. |
