Details: | I spoke with Ann about the E. coli positive repeat and source samples collected on July 8th requiring distribution of a boil water notice to employees and customers on site. She said there was some confusion labeling sample bottles and the E. coli positive reported at 3365 Dry Hollow Ln was actually collected at 3375 Dry Hollow Ln. She also said the E. coli positive sample at the Bobs Well serves only one house. Because of the confusion in sample labeling, I advised her to post the boil water notice in visible locations throughout the distribution system. I also informed her to collect five confirmation samples from the Bobs Well. I emailed Ann the boil water notice template in English and Spanish versions and the boil water FAQs requesting copies of completed notices and locations they were posted.
I have notified North Central Public Health Department of these actions and requested follow up with the water supplier next week to discuss corrective action and coliform sampling needed to lift the boil water notice. Lifted 07/20/2021: Called Ann today after she sent absent results for confirmation and repeat samples both in distribution and at SRC AA - Bobs Well. The issue arose from drawing sample from threaded taps. 3375 Dry Hollow ln was taken from outside the house and SRC AA - Bobs well was taken from a threaded tap 20 feet away from the well. Apparently the sample tap on Bobs Well is difficult to get to and so the operator drew the sample from the easiest location. Since the repeat samples and confirmation samples were absent of e. coli and tc+ I decided to lift the boil water notice, however a level 2 investigation will still commence tomorrow Wednesday July 21st, 2021. I also notified Ann that the tap outside of the house cannot be used again. - E. Grendle NCPHD |
