Details: | 07.14.21 - System posted a voluntary public advisory.
Rich informed me that they will post a Do Not Drink the Water notice tomorrow (7.15.21). Rich observed unusually dark sediment accumulated in the water storage tank. The sediment could be the result of high levels of iron, manganese, or permanganate. The system had a similar issues last year when the green sand filtration system failed to perform automated backwash cycles. The filter media is also in need of replacement. The 2020 survey recommended replacing the filter media (green sand and anthracite).
The system is currently locating a qualified firm or individual to help them figure out how to get the filter operating properly again.
The public advisory will remain in place until further notice.
Lifted 07/26/2021: 07.26.21 - Rich informed me that he was with David Funderburk most of the day at Quosatana getting the filtration system back online. The filtration system is now running in complete automatic mode. Raw and finished water samples were collected to test the efficiency of the filter. Iron concentration is reduced from 5.0 ppm to 0.03 ppm. Both the potassium permanganate and chlorine pumps are operating well. The reservoir tank was drained and flushed out until it ran clear. On 7/24 the reservoir was refill to perform distribution system flushing. The distribution system was fully flushed on 7/24, with a noted rise in chlorine levels which was expected. Public advisory lifted today. No further actions needed at this time. |
