| Details: | Since Well #2 is currently not serving water, its status will be changed to inactive. Sampling done while the well is not serving water to customers should be labeled as special. If the well serves water, a nitrate sample will be immediately collected and reported to the state as a compliance sample (EP-B) and NCPHD will be notified that the well is in use. The well status will be changed to active with monitoring of nitrate monthly. All subsequent sampling done while the well is in use will be submitted to the state (i.e., monthly or more frequently). If a nitrate sample exceeds the MCL (10.49 mg/L), distribution of public notice to all customers is required. A copy of the public notice will be sent to NCPHD. The District will provide periodic updates to NCPHD on progress to resolve the nitrate issue and if alterations to corrective action plan and timeline must be made. When considering sites for a new well, please notify NPCHD and the state so that comment can be provided prior to plan review submittal and drilling. |
