| Details: | I spoke with Matt about the February nitrate result of 7.85 mg/L which is much higher than the sample collected in November last year at 1.32 mg/L. The City blends its sources to reduce nitrate levels. Nitrate is being monitored several times weekly to assess the situation and need to make operational changes to the wells. Quarterly monitoring is typically required for a year when results are over half the MCL to capture seasonal changes or trends. The City monitored quarterly from 2007 to 2016. In recent years, higher nitrates seem more common during 1st and 2nd quarters. The City will collect a 2nd quarter sample to compare with the February result and determine if additional monitoring or other action is needed. |
