Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Evan Hofeld, from OHA, requested circuit rider assistance for water quality parameter testing at Nestucca Valley Elementary School. Assistance Provided: Civil West worked with Bill Wilkinson of Nestucca Valley Elementary School to take two rounds of water quality parameter samples. In error, the WQP sampling was erroneously done pre and post treatment. The circuit rider used the post treatment tap as he was told that it was their coliform sampling point. This location is actually the EP for the system and the second test (coliform sampling location) should have been out in the actual distribution system away from the WTP. Given the small size of the distribution system, we feel that the WQP at the EP and in distribution is likely very similar. The test results are as follows: WQP sampling completed 11/3/21: Raw water from well: pH=6.5, temp 58.2 °F, SC 974 umhos/cm , alk 75 mg/L, and Ca 27.7 mg/L EP to the system: pH=6.6, temp 57.3 °F, SC 1,003 umhos/cm , alk 73 mg/L, and Ca 27.9 mg/L WQP sampling completed 11/17/21: Raw water from well: pH=6.7, temp 57.1 °F, SC 981 umhos/cm , alk 75 mg/L, and Ca 18.3 mg/L EP to the system: pH=6.6, temp was 59.3 °F, SC 1,034 umhos/cm , alk 79 mg/L, and Ca 17.9 mg/L Follow-Up Actions Needed: The circuit rider was also tasked with using the EPA OCCT to determine an appropriate means of corrosion control. This will be done as a second circuit rider support effort pending approval of the WQP data from OHA. Technical Reports to be Prepared and Expected Timeframe: N/A. |
