Details: | Fred Schatz from Crystal Springs Water District (00386) who operates the Odell Water Company system and is in the process of consolidating the two water systems called to report that an annual source assessment sample for the Odell Spring (SRC-AA) tested positive for both total coliform and E. coli. I advised Fred that they needed to take 5 source confirmation samples and to call me in the morning with the results. I also recommended that they take one or more distribution system samples to better assess the risks. A review of a disinfection verification completed in 2015 revealed that they likely have sufficient contact time for 4.0-log viral disinfection, but I went ahead and e-mailed Fred the disinfection verification form in case conditions that could affect contact time have changed since then and a new verification was needed. I also e-mailed a link to our groundwater rule implementation page at: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HealthyEnvironments/DrinkingWater/Rules/GWR/Pages/monitoring.aspx. Future actions pending receipt of confirmation sample results expected on 2/19/22. 3:15 PM 2/19/22 Update: I called Fred Schatz, but he had not heard back from the lab yet. Fred confirmed that the hydraulic conditions have not changed since the 2015 contact time verification and affirmed that flows were less than that of the verification due to less demand in the winter and that the current chlorine residual was 0.25 mg/l, therefore, it is not believed a boil water notice would be needed - future actions pending receipt of sample results. 2/22/22 Update: All 5 confirmation samples taken 2/18/22 and received 2/22/22 were absent of coliform bacteria - no further action needed. | ||
