Details: | Marion County Environmental Health Department forwarded a water quality complaint from a City of Detroit resident. The resident's house survived the 2020 wildfires and is reporting chlorine and fecal smelling water depending on the day. Resident is wondering if the water is affecting his and his wife's health. Recent coliform results are absent and chemical detections are below federal MCLs. DWS sent the Detroit resident previous VOC sampling data the city took part in as part of the wildfire recovery effort and links to accredited drinking water labs to get the water tested. Detroit has been supplying potable water to residents with unburned service connections and has issued a do not drink for those with burned or damaged service connections due to potential VOC contamination. Resident did email back to let DWS know that they had a burned service connection. DWS advised the resident to look into VOC testing and having the service line replaced. No further action needed. |
