Details: | I made a site visit to the public water system/retail food store and found that the soda machine (utilizing water) was in use during a boil water advisory. The public notice/boil water notice had been removed by the store with the rational that they received an absent TC water sample from distribution. I informed the manager on-site, Sawankumar Kumar, that the water system is to remain on a public notice/boil water notice until the source deficiencies can be corrected. An ODA violation was cited by me for the use of an unsafe water source. The soda machine was placed out of order and a public notice was again posted in the store (the restrooms were already not in use at the time of the inspection). I then drove to the store (same ownership) in Glendale to talk to the owner, Rajesh Kumar, of the water system. I let him know that the correction timeline was past due for the previous parameters and that the system was now in formal enforcement. I relayed the new options moving forward for an E. coli positive source as stated in the warning letter from the OHA. He assured me he would ensure compliance as soon as possible and also said that he would let me know of any progress. Mr. Kumar is aware that the public notice/boil notice is in effect until compliance is achieved and the ODA/OHA are made aware of any and all corrections. |
