| Details: | Informed Gary that the nitrate level exceeded half the MCL in recent sample and asked if there was a logical explanation considering recent previous results were well under this value. He explained that "the gears in the head of the ion exchange unit appeared broken so the unit had stopped working." He alerted church members to not drink water as well as posted some signs re the same and special ordered needed mechanical pieces and made repairs. After making repairs he let the water run to flush out the untreated water for several hours and then took the sample resulting in 7+ ppm as well as a pre-treatment sample to provide a baseline for the exchange settings (results not yet received). He stated he would adjust the exchange unit in order to be more effective. Current sampling frequency will be maintained. Future considerations: spare parts for treatment system and/or alarm when treatment fails? |
