Assistance Type: OTHER WATER QUALITY - High turbidity readings

Details: USFS Horseshoe Bend Campground had a high turbidity event in June 2022 resulting from a storm event that increased the raw water turbidity too high for the cartridge filter to sufficiently remove the turbidity below the 1 NTU required. The rules require cartridge filter systems to have over 95% of the turbidity readings be less than 1 NTU. The days with the high turbidity were 6/12/22 - 6/14/22 and the highest turbidity reading was 3.29 NTU. I discussed with the operator in the future if the turbidity starts to rise too high, to turn off the treatment plant and run the distribution system off the storage tank. The tier 2 public notice was posted onsite on 7/20/22.
