Details: | I spoke with Keith from Veolia Water who works with Brian Hutchins; we discussed that on Monday 8/1 a water sample was collected from PGE Trojan Park's well after the Repeat samples which came back positive for total coliform. There was a mouse nest discovered in the corner of the well house, and it was also determined that the wellhead's vent did not have a screen secured on it. We discussed how no pesticides or rodenticides or any chemicals are to be sprayed within the wellhouse or even within 50 feet of it, but physical removal of the mouse nest and mice will be required. The vent will need to be screened, and some type of material buffer around the wellhouse lid, screen or other material, is advised to prevent rodent entry. Keith says he plans to go back out to the location and put a mesh screen over the wellhouse opening, and secured around the wellhead's vent, as well as removing the mouse nest. Keith also says that Veolia Water will collect the follow up samples as well. Since a source well sample was collected voluntarily on August 1st, I mentioned I would see if that could be included as one of the 3 routine coliform samples regarding the month following the positive total coliform result. |
