Details: | Failure to meet WQP in September An excursion occurred when the daily pH value measured at the entry point was below the minimum value ( 7.2) set by DWS. Unfortunately, no additional pH measurements were taken for the next 12 days after the excursion on 9/18. Each additional day without test results for pH and alkalinity counted as an additional excursion for a total of 13 excursions. Mark was instructed to take the following steps: 1. Issue a Tier 2 public notice. A Tier 2 public notice template was provided via email. The notice must be posted as soon as practical using the following methods: Hand or direct delivery, mail, as a separate notice, or included with the bill. 2. Email me a copy of the public notice with the date posted. The notice must remain posted at least seven days, or until the issue that caused the violation is resolved. 3. Collect two rounds of lead and copper in the distribution system. Round one must be collected between January 1 and June 30, 2023. Round two between July 1 and December 31, 2023. Lead and copper samples must be collected at the same 5 homes used in previous years for lead and copper sampling. 4. The operator was reminded to measure pH and alkalinity in the distribution system during the lead and copper sampling and also two weeks after each round of lead and copper sampling. Recommended sampling pH and alkalinity at least once every week, but never less than once every 14 days. |
