| Details: | I received an alert on 10-26-22 for nitrate over ½ the MCL for the Davis/Odell spring (EP-B) at 6.85 mg/l from sampling completed 8-17-22. I e-mailed Fred Schatz on 10-26-22 to alert them to the high nitrate result. Even though there is a history of elevated nitrate results from this spring (under the nitrate sampling for the Odell water system (00586)), this is a dramatic increase from the last sample result of 0.092 mg/l from sampling completed 7-26-22, therefore, quarterly sampling from this entry point will be required for 1 year beginning with the first quarterly sample to be taken between Oct 1 – Dec 31, 2022. I wrote to Fred that we just need to make sure that water quality is not deteriorating in the spring source for some reason. Fred replied that they had no issues with taking more samples and were just as surprised by the results and wanted to know if it was included in some earlier sampling. I replied back that it was part of sampling for IOC, VOC, and SOC chemical groups all conducted on the same day (8-17-22). Initially when I contacted Fred, I indicated that the quarterly sampling will begin 1/1/23, however, since the sample was taken in August 2022 (3rd quarter 2022), the quarterly sampling should begin 10/1/22 per my e-mail to Fred on 10/28/22. | ||
