Details: | Discussed the issue again with all at the water system survey. There does not appear to be a rhyme or reason for these detections, despite the operators attempts to solve the riddle of finding the source. But the issue persists at a low level for 3 years now. Interestingly, there were two other slight VOCs detections: styrene (90 ppt) & 1,2,4 trichlorobenzene (40 ppt) in 2021. These results did not broach the threshold detection level of 500 ppt. However, these man-made chemicals also have a far lower MCL than xylenes (10 ppm) and even ethylbenzene (700 ppb). (MCLs are 100 ppb for styrene & 70 ppb for 1,2,4, trichlorobenzene.) |
