Details: Background/Problem Identification:

The circuit rider was contacted by OHA and was requested to assist with assessment of the source and storage systems with respect to construction to exclude surface water, & the possibility of installing continuous disinfection.

Assistance Provided:

The circuit rider visited the water system on 7/29/22 to assess the water system, specifically the source and the storage systems. As indicated by Christine Chambreau, the latest (07/10/22) coliform sampling on the source was negative. Sampling in distribution five days (07/05/22) prior was positive. Many unscreened entrances to the storage tanks & recommended cleaned & screened.

Most recent test was negative for coliform in the spring source, the spring source does have a history of positive coliform tests. Discussed potential methods to meet OVS treatment requirements with the water system.

1 option for treatment was addition of bag/cartridge filtration (Harmsco Hurricane H-170 or equivalent) to sub-micron levels coupled with a Dosatron chlorinator. No power @spring source or storage area, & unless power run to the area, a bag/cartridge filter & Dosatron would be only means to comply OVS treatment w/o power.

If the water system was willing to install treatment closer to an existing source of power, but still on the transmission main between the storage tanks and the distribution system, a UV system and powered chlorination system could be employed. For this alternative, we recommend installing a UV system and chlorination to comply with OVS regulations. The UV system NSF Standard 55, &e Class A. The Viqua Pro30 UVMax system satisfy the OVS treatment requirement. Recommend 30gpm unit installed w/flow restrictor to limit flow to <30 gpm. Residual maintenance disinfection achieved using low-paced dosing pump/meter ie-Stenner Econ-FP series system. recommend small mixing tank place after the injection point to allow for mixing of the pulsed injections.

Avail assist if needed.
