Details: | Ray had some notes from the previous treatment plant supervisor which indicated that Powers monitored for pH in the distribution yearly in November. He wondered how that should be done. I could not find any reason for such monitoring. They have used soda ash for corrosion control for some time, and monitor the pH at the entry point daily. They only need to monitor the water quality parameters in the distribution system (pH and alkalinity in this case) during the season that they collect their lead and copper samples. The next year for that will be summer 2020. Ray also asked about the issue of opening access for fishing near their intake, which had been a controversy at the city council a couple years ago. I found and forwarded the email we sent the City at that time (January 2016) which said it was their decision, but there were calculated health risks as well as potential staffing costs and repairs stemming from that open access. |
