| Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Sunset Water System Inc is looking for a cost estimate to apply for funding to install iron/manganese treatment on their groundwater system. Assistance Provided: Sunset Water System Inc (SWSI) is a small community water supply system located approximately a mile and a half northwest of the city of Aurora. SWSI provides potable water to 35 connections (approximately 140 people). During the onsite meeting with the circuit rider, Randy Diestler indicated they have had ongoing issues with iron/manganese staining residential fixtures. Below is a cost estimate for a greensand treatment system sized to serve the water system at SWSI. Item Cost Iron/Manganese Treatment System - Two 30 gpm Auto Backwash Media Filters w/ greensand media $35,000 - New Booster Pump/VFD ~60 gpm $4,200 - Sodium Hypochlorite Injection System $3,500 - Meter for Flowpacing Hypochlorite $2,000 - Replumb Entire WTP $3,250 - Electrical $6,000 Arsenic Treatment System - Subtotal $53,950 Project Contingency (20%) $10,790 Design / Construction Support (20%) $10,790 Permitting Support (5%) $2,698 Arsenic Treatment System - Total $78,228 Please note that the above cost estimates are current to October 2022 and may increase substantially with inflation.
