Details: | Update from a group call facilitated by Patence (with Lane Co. emergency management): A two-person crew from EWEB located the leak yesterday which turned out to be a 55 gallon per minute leak. The water system is operating on minimal water, school is open with special protocols in place, EWEB has set up two water stations for residents, bottled water has also been dropped off, Vanessa West with Mapleton is working with Business Oregon for funding, Jason with RCAC will also be helping with the application process in order to secure funding as quickly as possible to repair the leak. 3/7/23: an account of the event was provided by the operator: A break in a six inch, asbestos concrete line was discovered about 500 feet south of the district's treatment plant on December 29, 2022. The district's plant operator, Joe Rochon, and two volunteers, Wally Walton and Ronald Flansberg, along with Bob Waller from the OAWU repaired the break using a Romac repair coupler. The following day Rochon confirmed that the break had been repaired and was no longer leaking. The lines were flushed and cl2 residuals were checked. Samples were taken to the lab...notice lifted, etc. |
