| Details: | The email below was sent 2/6/23 followed by a phone call on 2/7/23. Hi Scott, State Drinking Water Services track violation scores and as of last month the Ocean Pines Park score reached 17. Anything above 10 puts a water system into Priority Non Compliance (PNC) status and on a course toward legal enforcement. I encourage you to: 1. Sample for nitrates and barring any new violations, doing so NOW will immediately cause the system score to drop below 10; 2. Take the following corrective actions, which barring any new violations, will prevent violations from again accumulating into PNC status: o By March 7, 2023 eliminate where water can weep in and out of the concrete storage tank (or take the tank out of use); o In the month of September 2023 meet the lead/copper sampling requirement; o Before the end of November 2023 meet the sampling requirements for: Arsenic; Inorganic Compounds; Nitrites; Synthetic Organic Compounds; and Volatile Organic Compounds. I appreciate that you’ve done much work since our meeting in July 2022. Let me know if you have any questions. THE PHONE DISCUSSION ON 2/7/23 INCLUDED: AN EMPHASIS ON COLLECTING NITRATE SAMPLE WOULD RESULT IN AN RTC AND A SUCCESSFUL RTC REQUEST BY COOS HEALTH WOULD LEAD TO A SCORE NO LONGER QUALIFYING OCEAN PINES PARK AS PRIORITY NON-COMPLIANCE. SCOTT QUESTIONED IF, AMONG OTHERS, HE HAD COLLECTED A NITRATE SAMPLE TOWARD THE END OF 2022 AND IF RESULTS HAD BEEN LOST, BUT HE DECIDED TO DO THIS YEAR'S NITRATE ANYWAY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. HE IS AWARE OF TIME FRAME FOR OTHER ITEMS LISTED - PARTICULARLY MARCH 7 TO FIX THE WEEPING CONCRETE TANK. |
