Details: I spoke with Robert Trotter about the proposed project for McNulty Water PUD which involves installing new sampling stations throughout distribution, with dedicated sample sites at those stations. Robert says the purpose for this project is that currently, nearly all of the sampling locations for total coliform are located within people's homes. Part of the sampling process is flaming the tap to disinfect it prior to flushing and collect the water samples. The goal with changing the sampling sites to new sampling stations within distribution but outside of users' homes, according to Robert, is for safety purposes while flaming the taps, to avoid running the risk of damaging the homes of the water system's users, while still representing the water that is being served to the system's users.
Robert says the new proposed sampling sites will be evenly throughout the water system, a total of 12-18 sites, with roughly half of those being in the Blaha section of the water system and roughly the other half located in the Robinette section of the water system.
