| Details: | I was contacted by the Fire Chief of Shaniko and through email by the Oregon Emergency Response System that Shaniko had contaminated water. A gentleman by the name of Forrest Marquart had submitted an OERS report after he had drawn a sample from a local tap and submitted it to the Rose City Lab facilities in Portland Oregon. The sample had been tested for coliforms and was positive for coliform bacteria. Scott checked the chlorinator upon finding out about the report and was able to see that the chlorinator was still operating and at a .2 ppm residual. A routine sample was also collected and submitted to Box-R lab. The sample was determined to be absent for coliforms and the City of Shaniko was notified of the results. Don Treanor is the operator of the system currently. There is no immediate emergency at this time and NCPHD will work toward getting Shaniko's certification up to date. | ||
