| Details: | Tony contacted me about the recent quarterly HAA5 disinfection byproduct sample collected earlier this month exceeding the MCL. He indicated he observed an unusually high chlorine residual of 1.99 mg/L at the sample location and believes that might be the cause. Compliance is based on a location running annual average (LRAA) and this quarterly result caused the LRAA to exceed the MCL resulting in a violation requiring public notice within 30 days. The operational evaluation level (OEL) which is the same as the MCL was also exceeded. That is not a violation, but it requires an operational evaluation be conducted within 90 days. I emailed templates for the public notice and operational evaluation to Tony this date. I also let him know that the circuit rider was available to help complete the operational evaluation and investigate ways to reduce DBPs in the system, and that public notice is required to be repeated every 3 months as long as the violation or situation persists. | ||
