Details: | Survey deficiency update Eryn emailed me inquiring about Sleepy Hollow deficiency on disinfection: "Failure to calculate CT values correctly". As of March 2023, the new time of 46.4 minutes at 5 gpm is being used. Would this allow this deficiency to be resolved? I emailed back Eryn clarifying the following: The 47.4 minutes of contact time is based on a conservative theoretical calculation. Generally speaking, DWS require surface water systems have an approved tracer study done to determine the actual contact time. The exception to this is if the system has plugged flow piping or plenty of theoretical contact time. With the installation of the 5 gpm flow restrictor valve, Sleepy Hollow’s theoretical contact time has increased from 26.3 to 47.4 min. However, during the winter months it’s possible that with this contact time, the achieved CT may still come really close to the CT required. For this reason, the survey deficiency "Failure to calculate CT values correctly", will be considered as corrected once the system has conducted a tracer study to determine the actual contact time. |
