| Details: | Grande Ronde water got circuit rider assistance in order to locate the source of coliform contamination. A site visit occurred on February 13th to find the issue. There are a few causes for concern including an accumulation of plant debris in the grates, an improperly terminated Air Relief Valve, and crumbling grout surrounding the drain. However, these are not assumed to be the source of the total coliform positive samples. The likely cause was determined to be an Air Relief/Overflow valve which alternates between surging water and negative pressure air flow. During the negative pressure air flow, surrounding vegetation and debris can be pulled in. The recommended solution is to remove the one-way valve and put an approved vent or air/vacuum relief valve in its place. I talked with Karl on 4/19/2023 at 4:35 pm, they are going to use an ice pig on 2.5 miles of old pipe. They are in the process of hiring a contractor to redo the grout surrounding the drain.
