Details: | Reached out to the operator of the Shaniko Water System to see if they had corrected the deficiencies from the 9/23/22, most notably the roof and access hatch to the reservoir. The operator (Scott Marrs) explained to me that they had started making repairs and would require a bit more time. I requested that he email the corrective action plans to me and provide me with a date that they would be corrected. I've extended the due date to allow for those corrections to take place, as long as it is within a reasonable amount of time. Scott took the exam for the certified operator's course and will be including that certificate in the email that I requested. The operations and maintenance manual is still under construction at this time. Dan Vaage with Civil West Engineering provided Circuit Rider Assistance to Shaniko to help locate an area to add a raw sampling tap for Spring #4 and Spring #5, as well as provide assistance to areas that may require backflow devices. Scott informed me that Dan Vaage had determined that installing a raw water sample tap to the springs would be challenging due to the lack of pressure. The springs sit below grade and require a booster pump to fulfill the City's pressure needs. The only alternative would be similar to a grab sample, in which the City already conducts to sample the two sources. A report will be sent to NCPHD once it's been completed and provided to Shaniko. |
