Details: On-site manager Jesse responded to message left for new owner. McCowan lab informed him that the routine sample was TC+ and what he needed to do next. He collected 1 repeat at same location (utility sink), 1 upstream and 1 downstream, submitting them today. The lab suggested he not use sinks with swivels- sounds like a coliform sampling plan is in order. Jesse said one mobile home resident accidentally broke their connection line about that time, resulting in zero water pressure. Jesse is going to contact Molly Keller at DWS about requiring backflow devices at all service line junctions to homes or RVs. Population change: since the new ownership, there are more people - definitely 25+ for at least 60 days of the year, which means they will be changed back to TNC status. Due to some concerns, I suggested Jesse call the WTP staff at Myrtle Point to see if he can verify them against the City benchtop meters. Their revised PWS upgrade plans now include: a bigger storage tank, replace 1 pressure tank, replace the very old sand pressure filter with an auto-backwashing sand filter, eliminate the floc/sed tanks. They will keep the same cartridge filters. I suggested they talk to a DWS plan review engineer about what materials to submit. They had considered UV as well - we discussed that adding a 5.5-log removal UV reactor could avoid the LT2 raw water monitoring requirement. After our call, Jesse contacted the Strainrite manufacturer and verified that their Giardia filters should never have been laundered and reused as the previous owner had done. This explains why the pressure values on either side of the filters had always been so low on the monthly treatment reports - the filter pores were not catching the small debris and clogging up. He will order new filters and follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Update 12/13/18: One repeat was TC+; informed Jesse about Level 1 investigation coming in mail.
