| Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Evan Hofeld of OHA reached out to the circuit rider indicating that Netarts Water District needed assistance with a recommendation for corrosion control for their spring source. Assistance Provided: The circuit rider analyzed the system’s WQPs and used the EPA OCCT to select a corrosion control method. Based on the spring source WQP available from the water treatment plant operator, (pH=6.27, alk=84 mg/L, Ca=34 mg/L (estimated), DIC=39, no Fe or Mn) the EPA OCCT recommended flowchart is 1a. Our recommendation is that the spring source should be treated with soda ash and the pH raised in 0.25-unit increments (until the corrosion issues subside) up to the theoretical CaCO3 saturation pH of ~7.7.
