| Details: | Corbett Water District experienced chlorine equipment failure today for approximately 1.5 hours. The DRC David Jacob notified phone duty and technical services staff for consultation. Measured values were reviewed to verify CT required was met in the baffled 120K clearwell. The required CT for 1.0 log inactivation was met. David explained pH is typically higher; however when the automated chlorination system stopped working the pH dropped. Clearwell levels were maintained at a constant level. Once the chlorine failure was discovered the issue was fixed and chlorine residual returned to 1.0 mg/L. He is still investigating the cause of the failure because they had plenty of sodium hypochlorite available. With the 1-MG reservoir online and the additional transmission line before the first customer, no further action was required other than to document the event on the monthly surface water report and follow up with regulator. |
