| Details: | On 8/30/23 I received an alert for nitrate at 5.42 mg/l from EP-B (Davis/Odell Spring) for a sample taken 8/15/23. The system has been on quarterly monitoring for 1-year beginning 10/1/22 to determine if the source is reliably and consistently below the 10 mg/l MCL for nitrate. This result is the 4th of 4 quarterly samples needed. Results for the 4 quarterly sample dates are as follows: 11-2-22 - 6.72 mg/l, 2-14-23 - 7.38 mg/l, 6-6-23 - 6.35 mg/l, 8-15-23 - 5.42 mg/l. Results demonstrate EP-B is reliably and consistently below the nitrate MCL of 10 mg/l, therefore, sampling may be reduced from quarterly to once per year. Sampling is to be done in the first calendar quarter of each year (January 1st - March 31st) since that is the quarter with the highest quarterly sample result (7.38 mg/l on 2-14-23). I e-mailed Fred Schatz a link to this contact report, submitted the chemical monitoring change form to update the sampling schedule, and let Fred know that annual sampling could begin in the 1st quarter of 2024. I also followed up with a phone call to see if he had any questions. | ||
