Details: | The City of Sheridan (00811) reported total of 38 compliance readings in the May 2023 SWTR report; three readings exceeded 0.3 NTU, and two readings (Day 15 and Day 16) were above 0.349 NTU. Systems with filtration must ensure CFE turbidity levels are less than or equal to 0.3 NTU in at least 95% of the measurements taken each month, as specified in OAR 333-061-0030(3)(b)(i). Despite these measurements, 95% of the May 2023 4-hour turbidity readings were less than 0.3 NTU so the City was not issued a violation. The system attributes the elevated turbidity levels to two primary causes: a ruptured chemical injector plug that caused a breach in the chemical feed line, and a malfunction in the filter float system, leading to filter overflows and media disruption. To address these issues, the system took immediate action by unplugging the chemical injector and replacing the damaged feed line. Furthermore, a new float system was procured and installed on the filters. |
