| Details: | On or around 9/27/2023, we received one call each from Valerie and Dave with Valley of the Moon, who had a question about a violation notice they received about total coliform sampling. I found the letter from DWS, dated May 19th, that explained their situation. I called Dave back on 9/29 to follow up a second time and we discussed that that DWS says that source assessment monitoring is required at the well monthly because according to the letter, "this source has been identified as susceptible to fecal contamination". Valley of the Moon have been sampling monthly for total coliform since May, and the results say the samples were collected at the wellhouse; Dave told me that the samples were collected at the well, prior to treatment. We discussed that these monthly samples collected at the wellhouse are to be labeled "Assessment" samples rather than "Routine" or "Distribution" samples. (Routine Distribution samples are required Quarterly at this system.) Dave said that he will call me back to discuss this further next week and possibly do a site visit, to confirm the sample tap location(s) in the system. |
