Details: | Point of diversion (PODs) for Brookings PWS 12.12.2023 - FYI, Tony Baron, City of Brookings public works director, during a phone conversation today, clarified that the POD 1 shown on the map provided by Dante (WRD), is the Ranney collector currently used as the source for drinking water for the city of Brookings. The POD 2 is the freeman well. Water from this well was used temporarily for irrigation at Salmon Run Golf Course. The city is now requesting through WRD a permanent 1.0 cfs from POD 2 for irrigation purposes at Salmon Run Golf Course. Tony also clarified that POD 2 is not connected to the well providing drinking water at Salmon Run Golf Course. There is also no interconnection between POD2 and POD1. The final determination on the request for permanent transfer of the 1cfs to POD2 has been postponed until January. Next steps: The meeting was cancelled. No further actions needed at this time from the operator. 12.06.2023 - I contacted Yvonne to coordinate a MS Teams meeting to clarify questions around the point of diversion (POD) for the city of Brookings. Yvone recommended extending the meeting invitation to the city public works director, Tony Baron, and system water project manager, Dustin Nelson. A tentative date for the meeting has been set (12.18.2023). 11.30.2023- Dante Luongo with WRD, contacted via phone to discuss the source classification for Brookings water system. In a follow up email, Dante reported that the City of Brookings has filed a couple of temporary transfers in the past to use water from a caisson structure (POD 2). The City has been using this point of diversion for their water right since 2020. Now the City of Brookings is requesting a permanent transfer of that 1 cfs to a new POD. DWS data shows that there is only one POD or Ranney collector. I contacted Yvonne with Jacobs Engineering, to help clarify the information provided by the WRD. |
