| Details: | I called Jose to notify him that a source assessment sample, collected on December 28, 2018, was E. coli positive and that five confirmation samples must be collected from the spring as soon as possible. Jose stated it is unlikely he can collect the samples today because he doesn't have enough sample bottles but I stated samples collected this week would be acceptable. Jose mentioned the spring is about one quarter of a mile away and that the waterline from the spring flows past the valve for well #2, which is inactive. From Jose's description, it's possible stagnant water from well #2 is causing the bacteria to be present in samples from the spring. Jose also described it is difficult or impossible to collect samples directly from the spring itself because it's buried beneath the ground. I recommended to Jose that the inability to collect samples directly from the spring and the possible mixing with water standing in well #2 are issues that should be resolved in the future. For the time being, Jose will collect the confirmation samples from the source and consult with Dept. of Agriculture about further response. | ||
