Details: | I received an alert generated on 1/6/24 for 6 excursions that occurred in the month of December 2023 for entry point D (EP-D) for Well #3. I e-mailed Levi on 1/9/24 about the alert, which had generated excursions for not only the 1 day the minimum alkalinity of 30 mg/l was not met on 12/12/23 at 20 mg/l, but also for the 5 days following when the well was marked OFF until the well was marked ON again on 12/18/23 at 67 mg/l. I requested that our compliance officer review the excursions and consider reducing the number of excursions from 6 to 1 due to the well being off. I let Levi know I had requested the change and explained that the excursion would not carry into the next 6-month period (1/1/24 - 6/30/24) and to let him know that if they exceeded 9 excursions in a 6-month period then they would have start sampling lead and copper at 40 locations (an increase from 20) once every 6 months for at least a year. Levi responded on the morning of 1/10/24 that the well 3 had actually been off between 12/9/23 and 12/25/23, however, the number of excursions had reduced to 1 for the month of December 2023. I explained that to correct this, he would likely need to send in a corrected corrosion control report with an explanation for the change, but that he could work that out with Nicole Alfafara (Nicole Alfafara is now the Drinking Water Services regulator for systems in Tillamook County). Update: Amended report requested and received on 1/22/24. |
