Details: | In efforts to investigate the system for a leak while struggling to maintain a reservoir level, the City turned off EP-A from the watershed springs/wells and leaned on purchased water from MW&L as a source on 1/9/24. Customers were notified of a potential decrease in water pressure on 1/8/24. The system opted to not issue a boil water advisory since to their knowledge at the time positive pressure was and would be maintained. The system did follow some of our best management practices; flushing lines post repair to remove air/debris and collecting 5 samples for bacterial analyses on 1/9/24. Those samples tested negative for coliform with chlorine residuals ranging from 0.80-0.89 mg/L. However, in response to community feedback revealing the potential of having experienced a complete pressure loss in selected areas/homes of the distribution, the system collected additional coliform samples on 1/11/24. Those samples tested negative for coliform and had chlorine residuals ranging from 0.35-0.86 mg/L. Customers did reach out to OHA-DWS with concerns about the supply and quality of their drinking water. OHA-DWS outlined the importance of prompt and clear messaging to both OHA-DWS and their service community during events impacting drinking water. |
