| Details: | I spoke with Jim Oswald about City of Prescott's plans to have the interiors of two 10,000 gallon storage tanks and the one 3,000 gallon contact tank pressure washed, and have the debris vacuumed out. We discussed the required disinfection of the tanks after these procedures, as well as collecting a total of 3 water samples, each being representative of a corresponding tank (total of 3 samples), to test for total coliform bacteria as well as the chlorine level after post-chlorination flushing. Days prior, I forwarded Jim the sections in the rules listing the options the system may choose for the required tank disinfection after the flushing and cleaning, which is OAR# 333-061-0050 section (10) segments (e) through (i) for reference. Jim told me Prescott has decided to go with the spraying option of higher chlorinated water rather than filling the tank with lower chlorinated water and letting it sit for hours. Jim added that the company doing the pressure washing and vacuuming also said they can collect and dispose of the chlorinated solution in an approved containment location, using their equipment, rather than discharging it all onto the ground. |
