Reasons: | Nitrate |
||
Details: | We called Mr. Klindt regarding the recent Nitrate sample result of 7.7 mg/l. This is greater than 50% of the MCL (of 10 mg/l). This triggers increase monitoring for Nitrate for at least one year (to quarterly monitoring). The Code says: OAR: 333-061-0036 - Sampling and Analytical Requirements... (2) Inorganic chemicals... (c) Nitrate... (B) At community and NTNC water systems using groundwater sources, water suppliers must monitor nitrate annually at each point in the distribution system representative of each source after treatment or at entry points to the distribution system after any application of treatment. The Authority shall require quarterly monitoring for a least one year following any one sample in which the concentration of nitrate is 50 percent of the MCL or greater. Monitoring may return to annual after four consecutive quarterly samples are found to be reliably and consistently below the MCL... The increased monitoring is set to begin on 4/1/24. This is the first such occurrence of this type of issue. This is a relatively new public water system. |
