Details: Background/Problem Identification:

The Circuit Rider (CR) contacted Russ Kazmierczak of OHA/Drinking Water Services to obtain a better understanding of water quality issues facing the City of Lakeview and to determine if there were specific opportunities to provide technical/engineering support. Russ acknowledged that the system has been experiencing issues for years and that there had been a previous Circuit Rider support effort. Russ also mentioned that several initiatives were underway to address water quality issues.

Assistance Provided:

The CR accessed OHA’s Drinking Water Data Online portal to review contact reports and advisories for this water system. A contact report from November 2017 pointed to obtaining Circuit Rider assistance to help address a specific water quality complaint involving discoloration. There was a subsequent support effort that resulted in a list of potential solutions to address the issue.

The CR researched documentation on the City of Lakeview’s project to install a new water treatment facility. The main objectives of the project are to address heightened levels of iron and manganese in the water supply and to mitigate arsenic in the system’s north well.

Recent follow-up communication with Russ has not resulted in the identification of any immediate needs for technical/engineering support. The CR advised Russ to reach out in the future of the situation changes and assistance is required.
