Details: | Contacted Bryan Hartke, Park Manager, regarding a complaint about the water being provided by the water system. The complainant stated that the taste, odor and color of the water is real bad and started approximately 3 years ago. Mr. Hartke indicated that the groundwater has iron and manganese which will turn and smell bad if left in the pipes too long. He said that he advises the water to run the water until it clears before they consume the water. The complainant was called back and informed of Bryan's response and she disagreed with him and believes that the operation of the park is causing the problem. I explained that residual chlorine treatment was added to the system almost three years ago and that could be part of the problem. The chlorine could be oxidizing the manganese and iron and causing the water to turn brown. I also explained that the water turn over in the storage tank could be too low due to low use which could cause taste and odor issues due to stagnant water especially since the water produced from the well comes from and old alluvial lake aquifer system. The complainant was going to contact Karen Crawford, Park Manager, regarding operation of the system. |
