Details: | Nicole Alafara and Jaime Craig tried to contact BLM for updates on the boil water notice and had no return calls or success with emails. Email sent with the below questions with no response from June 2nd, 2024. Boil water notice is still in effect. email resent. Hi Susanna and Claire, My name is Nicole and I am a Drinking Water Specialist for the Oregon Health Authority. You may have worked with my colleague Evan Hofeld in the past, we recently switched regions we oversee. I am reaching out in regards to BLM Fan Creek Rec Site water system (90640). I saw that the BLM Fan Creek Rec Site has been under a boil advisor since August of 2023. Previous documentation notes on August 4th, 2023, an e-coli positive result was detected. A level 2 investigation found construction issues that might have caused positive results. The pump handle was removed, a boil notice issued, and notice posted. At that time the system was going to remain offline to determine next steps to addressing well construction/contamination. Can you please provide me an update with the plan for the well? • Is the handle still removed? • Has the well been repaired to address construction issues identified? • Is there a desire to get the well back up and running to provide water to recreation site users? • Is a notice still posted to boil water? Sincerely, Nicole Nicole Alfafara Drinking Water Services Oregon Health Authority Phone: (503) 278-1531 Fax: (971) 673-0694 Nicole.H.Alfafara@oha.oregon.gov update on 7/11/2024 Claire Robinson says: Yes, the boil water notice has been up this summer. The system is offline with a locked cap on the spigot. We have been trying to diagnose the system to figure out where the contamination is coming from. We are having it inspected again to determine the best course of action to create an appropriate fix to the system. |
