Details: | On 7/01 the City of Gates detected microcystins in their finished water entry point (EP-A) at 0.28 ug/L. The system started daily monitoring of microcystins at their entry point when the water treatment plant is running. The operator sent out a public notice notifying customers of the detection, stating that it's under the health advisory level and operational changes to the system to help destroy the microcystins. DWS discussed operational strategies and the operator decided to increase the chlorine residual to 3 ppm on 7/5 and lowered the pH in order to help destroy the microcystins on 7/9. Follow up sampling at the entry point on 7/8 and 7/9 showed cyanotoxins were non-detect and will go back to weekly monitoring. |
