| Details: | PFAS sampling conducted as part of the fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) showed PFOS at 9.5 ppt, PFHxS at 5.8 ppt, and PFBS at 4.3 ppt at entry point J (EP-J) for Balsam Well for a sample collected on 3/20/24. The PFOS results exceed EPA's new PFOS MCL of 4.0 ppt so system will likely need to take corrective action to comply with MCL by 2029. A letter was mailed and emailed to the water system on 5/20/24 which included information on how the results compare to the new MCLs, requirements to notify customers of availability of results and report detections in the annual consumer confidence report, and information on Emerging Contaminant funding available to address PFAS. Update 3/11/25: A second set of UCMR5 samples showed PFOS at 4.7 ppt, PFHxS at 3.7 ppt, and PFBS at 3.2 ppt at entry point J (EP-J) for Balsam Well for a sample collected on 9/10/24. | ||
