Details: | I called Ms. McHatton regarding a complaint call that had been made to EPA Region 10. EPA forwarded the response to the Oregon Drinking Water Program as we have primacy over the drinking water for the state. She had stated that she had contacted DEQ and they would be investigating the complaint. I explained that DEQ does not handle drinking water. She mentioned a foul odor and film/residue left on dishes. She also said that in conversations with the operator for the water system that no formal inspection had been done in 20 years. I explained that I had been out for a formal water system inspection in 2017 and would be happy to forward the report. She declined the offer of having a copy of the report sent to her. She was adamant that DEQ was coming out and didn't need my assistance. The complainant had made a home visit to the water system operator at 2am on 1/4/19. Ms. McHatton at that time had mentioned her concerns over the water quality. A follow up conversation was had with the operator of the water system, Don Porter. He acted on the concerns by flushing the hydrants above and below the residence as well as additional monitoring of the free chlorine residual that averaged between 0.4 and 0.6 ppm free chlorine. The system has been compliant with all required water samples and all tests have been satisfactory. At this time, Drinking Water Services does not feel that the complaint warrants any further action. Drinking Water Services will continue to review water analysis for the water system. |
